Case Study

Chargeroo: a full rental platform built from zero.

Chargeroo needed a complete platform: public website, location finder, venue partner portal, rental tracking, Stripe payment processing, and an AI customer support assistant. We built every piece and connected them into a single operating system that now runs 24/7 across 45+ venues with zero manual intervention.

How it works

How a build actually runs.

A focused application is usually six to eight weeks. A full platform with payments, several user types and outside integrations runs eight to fourteen. You get the timeline before we start.

Week 1. What it has to do

Not screens. What the application has to accomplish, who touches it, what it connects to, and what happens when something goes wrong. Most of the cost of a bad build is decided in this week.

Weeks 2 to 3. The core

The part that carries the value gets built first, so you are looking at something that works rather than a slide deck. If money moves through it, payments get wired early, because that is where the surprises live.

Weeks 4 to 6. Everything else, then testing

The rest of the application, then testing on real devices with real data. We try to break it before your customers do.

Launch and after

You get a walkthrough, the code and the accounts. Hosting and support are optional and cancellable.

What it costs

Real numbers, before you ask for a quote.

Applications start from $9,000 for a focused build and run to $25,000+ for a full platform with payments, portals and several user types. You get an exact figure on your audit call, and the price we quote after that is the price.

What actually moves the number

How many types of user there are, whether money moves through it, and how many systems it has to talk to. Almost everything else costs less than people expect.

Who owns it

You do. The code and the accounts are yours, and you can hand them to another developer whenever you want.

When you do not need us

If something off the shelf covers most of it, buy that instead. We will say so on the call, because a build you did not need is the most expensive kind there is.

FAQs

Questions about
application development.

How much does a custom application cost?

From $9,000 for a focused build, up to $25,000+ for a full platform with payments, portals and multiple user types. You get an exact figure on your audit call, and that price only moves if you change the scope in writing.

How long does it take?

Six to eight weeks for a focused application. Eight to fourteen for a full platform with payments, several user types and outside integrations. You get the date before we start.

Can it take payments?

Yes. We build with Stripe, Tyro and Square. Chargeroo processes rental payments through Stripe across 45+ venues, running without manual intervention.

Who owns the code when it is finished?

You do, in full. Host it wherever you like, and hand it to another developer at any point.

The other half

An application is only worth building if people find you first.

Most of what we build sits behind a website, and the website is what decides whether anyone ever reaches it. If nobody is landing on your site, the application will not fix that. Have a look at web design and SEO, or book a call and we will tell you which of the two is actually costing you money.

Have an application you want built?

Thirty minutes. Tell us what it has to do and we will scope it, give you a timeline and a price, and tell you honestly if it is bigger than it needs to be.
