In Albury Wodonga in 2026, a template website costs $1,500 to $3,000. A custom business site costs $4,000 to $12,000. Ecommerce and custom platforms start around $10,000. Ongoing care plans run $50 to $300 a month.
Automatrix custom builds typically start between $3,000 and $5,000. Everything below explains what each tier actually includes, so you can compare quotes properly.
Ask three local designers to quote the same five-page business site and the numbers come back $1,200, $4,500 and $9,000. All three are "a website". They are not the same product, and choosing on price alone is how owners pay twice: once for the cheap site, then again for the site that replaces it eighteen months later.
SECTION 01The 2026 price bands, straight up
Four bands cover almost every quote you will receive in this region. Find yours, then check the tier detail in section 3 before you sign anything.

Add $50 to $300 a month for a care plan (hosting, updates, security, small changes). The local range is wide, so check exactly what your tier covers before agreeing.

Five inputs set the number. When one quote is half the price of another, one of these got cut. Ask which.
Page count. Every properly written page is hours of work. Five pages and twenty pages are different products.
Custom design or template. A theme with your logo dropped in costs a fraction of a design built around how you sell.
Features. Contact forms are cheap. Booking engines, payment systems and customer portals are not.
Copywriting. Writing your content costs more than formatting content you supply. It also stalls fewer projects.
SEO depth. Structure, schema, local pages and speed built in from day one, versus bolted on later at extra cost.
SECTION 03What you should get at each tier
Print this table and hold every quote against it. If something in the custom column is missing from a custom-priced quote, ask why before you sign.
| What you get | ~$2,000 Template | ~$5,000 Custom | $10,000+ Platform |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mobile-friendly design | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Custom design (not a theme) | No | Yes | Yes |
| Copywriting done for you | No | Yes | Yes |
| Local SEO structure | Basic | Yes | Yes |
| Google Business Profile setup | No | Yes | Yes |
| Speed and Core Web Vitals work | Varies | Yes | Yes |
| Training to edit it yourself | Sometimes | Yes | Yes |
| Bookings, payments, integrations | No | Some | Yes |
| Typical time to launch | 2–4 weeks | 3–6 weeks | 6–12 weeks |
If a quote at any tier skips mobile performance or SEO structure, the low price is not the bargain it appears to be. You are buying a site that needs replacing.
SECTION 04The costs quotes leave out
Read every quote for what is missing, not just what is listed.
Domain and hosting. Who pays, and whose account holds it? Budget $20 to $40 a year for the domain and $10 to $50 a month for quality Australian hosting.
Photos and licences. Stock imagery and font licences get billed separately more often than you would expect.
Copywriting. "Client to supply content" stalls half the projects in this region. Either you write it or you pay someone to.
Revisions. Ask how many rounds are included and the hourly rate after that.
Ownership. The one that matters most. Some operators host your site on their own account and hold it hostage when you leave.
SECTION 05Red flags that cost you later
SECTION 06How to think about the spend
Price the outcome, not the artefact. A site that brings in four extra jobs a month pays for itself and then keeps printing. A cheap site that brings in nothing costs infinite dollars per lead, whatever the invoice said.
